this gorgeous girl was a natural in front of the camera during our family photo session this morning!
she was posing like a little expert, coming up with all sorts of ideas – like blowing a kiss – and i love the blue background in these images!
mom’s styling of the family was impeccable as well, perfectly matching the location.
when my own daughter saw the silver doc martens, she immediately exclaimed that she HAS to have those too! (which to be honest is exactly what i thought myself when i saw them… ;))

i already photographed this family last year, when we did a gorgeous in-home family shoot.

with nele, my older daughter, i have a special photo session just for her each year for her birthday. for my little one, maxi, i did monthly mini-sessions for her first year of life, and now want to start the same tradition of yearly shoots with her. maxi turned two a couple of weeks ago, so it was about time we did her session today!
maxi has a very special best friend – lauren. she talks about lauren all the time, they play together at kindergarten, they have regular playdates, they have been on holiday together… so in addition to taking photos of maxi, i wanted to capture this special friendship for her and lauren too. when i then stumbled across this pretty little tea-set, the session set-up idea was born: let’s have a tea party!
and here they are – two little best friends, partying away!

after your kids have been fighting all weekend, it is then obviously an amazing idea to take them out for an impromptu sibling photo shoot on sunday evening, right? right… even better if you forget to bring mosquito spray! well, all things considered, i think i should be quite happy with these:

this morning’s session was so much fun!
gorgeous little ada is turning one very soon, and today she got to taste (and smash!) her first cake. she was so happy with the balloons her parents got for her, and then when she was allowed to dig into that cake – well, i think her smile in the last image her says it all!
happy birthday, ada!!!

i love photographing kids in their rooms!
this is where they feel really comfortable and at ease, and there are plenty of things to play with.
they show me their favourite toys and their favourite nook to read a book in (or play the iPad… ;)), and almost every time there’s also some jumping on the bed involved… (images of that to come later!)

a quick sneak peek of this morning’s session, where this cute little explorer had lots of fun at jacob balls children’s garden. she particularly liked the hanging bridge there, and after enjoying swinging and wobbling around with daddy for a bit, she was brave enough to explore more on her own.
