There’s a particular kind of focus that comes with working with something precious.

I watched Isabelle evaluate gemstones during our session — the way she holds each one to the light, turns it slowly, sees things in it that most people wouldn’t notice. Years of knowledge, experience and passion.

In personal branding photography, I’m always looking for the moment that shows someone doing what they do best. This was it.

Some businesses don’t need a shopfront. They need trust.

Isabelle of Gut Juwelier, and generations of her family before her, have been creating exquisite handcrafted jewellery since 1905 — pieces she describes as „kleinste Kunstwerke“. Tiny works of art. And she’s right.

She works by appointment only, welcoming clients into her home for personal consultations. No shop window. No walk-ins. Just time, attention, and some of the most beautiful precious stones you’ll ever see up close.

When we planned her personal branding session, that intimacy was everything. We photographed her the way she actually works — in consultation, evaluating gemstones, present with every piece. Because that’s the experience her clients come for.

Some people think personal branding photos need to feel polished or “perfect”.

But what matters much more is that they feel true.

This session with Tamara, a celebrant (Traurednerin) in Zurich, was all about that.

She was in the process of building her new website, so we planned the session with that in mind — creating images for different sections and making sure everything felt cohesive and aligned.

Her work is deeply emotional and personal — and the images needed to reflect exactly that. Not distant or overly staged, but connected and real.

We photographed her in her home, where she writes and prepares for the ceremonies she creates, and by Lake Zurich — a place that naturally connects to her work and the people she serves.

Because authenticity is not just about how something looks, but where it comes from.

We created scenes that reflect her real work and guided each moment in a way that still felt natural and true to her.
That balance is what makes images feel both intentional and authentic.

3 Tips for your Newborn Photography Session

📆 When to schedule your session

You may have heard that you should schedule your newborn session within the first 2 weeks after giving birth. While this is more important for posed newborn sessions where your baby needs to be asleep for posing, I would still recommend scheduling your session early for a lifestyle newborn session as well, for the following reasons: a) newborns change and grow SO fast, so capture them in all their tinyness early!
b) many newborns develop newborn acne, which usually appears between 2-5 weeks of age.

👗 What to wear

Simple is best. Comfort is key. Keep colors neutral - but don’t be afraid to add a little bit of color! Whites, creams, grey, and subdued colors always photograph the best and make for timeless images. Try and avoid bright and bold colors, super dark colors like black and dark blue, and shirts with large logos on them because all that can take away from the overall feel and look of your images. We want the focus to be on you and your little one, not what your shirt said! 😉

🪄 How to prep

Please do not feel the need to clean your entire house before the session. I’m a mom too, of two rather messy girls. So literally nothing scares me. 😂 However, if you can, try and declutter items on counters/floors in the spaces you’d like me to photograph in. Less is more when it comes to newborn sessions.
Something else to consider: your bedding. Your big bed is usually a great place to photograph you snuggling with your newborn, however bedding in bright and bold colors will cast shadows and colors on skin, leaving a tint of whatever color the blanket is. So if you can, keep it simple and plain. Whites and creams are always ideal to ensure aesthetically pleasing images to the eye.
If possible, try and keep your house a bit warmer than usual. Babies love being warm and cuddly and when the house is cold, they’ll let you know if they don’t like it.

Lastly, and most importantly: relax!! We will go with the flow and follow your baby‘s lead, take feeding breaks as needed. You can just focus on enjoying your little one, and let me capture your wonder! 😍

Your baby will cry. Your toddler will run away. Your house won’t be tidy. Book the session anyway.
The first weeks pass faster than anyone warns you. The tiny fists, the way they curl into you, the smell of them — it’s gone before you’ve had a chance to sleep properly, let alone remember it.

I’ve never once had a session ruined by a crying baby or an uncooperative older sibling. Those moments are real. And real is exactly what we’re here for.
